Domestic Short Hair (medium coat) Cat

LACY the Cat needs a home

Meet Lacy!

Lacy is a quirky little cat who came to us from another rescue group after she was found as a stray. When she arrived, she was pregnant, so she spent 2 months in a foster home where she gave birth and raised her kittens. Now that she has returned to the shelter and all of her kittens have found homes, she is ready to find a home of her own.

During her initial stay here at the shelter and much of her time settling into her foster home, Lacy was not friendly with people. We suspect that much of this behavior was related to her pregnancy, however, we do not know for sure. She has adjusted well in the shelter this time, and is very chatty when greeting staff and volunteers. She will roll onto her side and knead, and enjoys petting on her head, chin and cheeks. She does not like to be pet past her ribs, and will swat to let you know. She will tolerate being held by a person she is comfortable with, but only for a short time. In her fosterhome, she did not interact well with the elderly dog, cat, and rabbit. Lacy requests to be the only pet in her new home, and she may take a while to adjust to her new environment and people.

Lacy will attempt to get outdoors, including testing the veracity of screened windows. We always recommend that indoor / outdoor cats stay indoors for at least the first few weeks in a new home to acclimate with their new family; this will be especially important in Lacy''s case. If her new home wants her to stay indoor only, they will need to be very vigilant about preventing escapes.

We have noticed that Lacy has lingering symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, which seems to be stress related. When in her foster home, these resolved but have reappeared now that she has returned to the shelter.
